Agreed. My friend and I struggled to finish the 3rd Gears of War game as it just felt like more of the same. It just seemed like gameplay never evolved beyond the framework of the first game. I can't speak for the multiplayer though since I never played it.

@darthv72

Sony was originally marketing PS3 as you all-in-one device at the beginning of the generation. I don't think they hold that ideal as adamantly anymore. Sure, Netflix streaming is on there, but that is a matter of convenience. Few outside of techies and gamers have PCs attached to their TVs in the family room equivalent.

I personally don't think all-in-one hardware devices will really ever exist. Software platforms on the other hand will ...

This design can make some really cool levels. The long cylindrical levels provide strong sense of directionality that is typically present Sonic games while allowing some crazy vertigo when you jump and rotate around the level at high speeds. Sure the game shares some similar designs from Mario, but Sonic's gameplay allows things that Mario can't do in the framework he exists in.

whew... I thought the sale had already started. I rushed to login to steam before this page even loaded.

Practically every game is an RPG if you consider the fact that you almost always assume a ROLE and PLAY a GAME. You need to add more letters or adjectives to the acronym in order to prevent Mario, Call of Duty, and Assassin's Creed from falling under its reach.

I loved this game back when I was a kid (and still do). I loved the fact that it's one of those games that just throws you into the world without any directions and says go. I spent a lot of time exploring and drawing maps trying to figure out where earthquakes were triggered in order to lower the lava levels.

Good times...

This just reminds me how much I wish I had bought a Gameboy Advance Micro in those last few months before the arrival of the Nintendo DS. Its diminutive size just makes it so cool.

Unrelated random observation. Does anyone else see about 1/4 of a bubble to the left of the green plus button. I thought I was seeing things but it seems everyone has it. Has that always been there?

Intel is just years ahead everyone in the silicon industry with its fabrication methods. AMD is at the mercy of the tech that GlobalFoundries can currently produce.

Definitely agree with you on the new PS Store. Sure its looks are more flashy, but doesn't help the digestion information. I miss being able to find things in a few clicks rather than navigate through several layers of menus.

You and me both. Been following this website for almost 6 years now. 0_o Nice to see some of the old recognizable people show their face every once in a while.

Guillermo del Toro is fantastic. I always make it point to support him and his movies.

Totally didn't think of Bayonetta. Her exaggerated looks and her action game heritage would work very well with Super Smash Bros. I really hope that she ends up in the game now that she is a proper Nintendo character.

Agreed. Don't see why they can't do it with the digital media.

Although, I wondered how the family plan was even sustainable. One of my friends was talking about how he would only have to buy one game per 10 people because they would just share each game among themselves. The family plan sounded like a nightmare far worse than used games for developers and publishers.

No UMD would have been fine if they actually had released every game on psn at release. The industry has moved forward since then and everything now is released digitally.

It's not like you can't buy digital games...

The submarine makes the image.

I am still baffled that they omitted Japan outright. Sure their influence is waning, but I am still surprised that they neglect region that produced games that add variety to the ecosystem.

They would do it just to troll Microsoft. =P

One of my most anticipated games. After finishing the Lords of Shadow I floored when I saw the ending cinematic that alluded the its sequel. The music and presentation of the first game were fantastic and the sequel seems to living up to first in the same regards.
